Sugarcraft Flowers

I haven't blogged for a while as I suddenly had a lot of orders come in for cakes all at once. Isn't it typical? nothing for weeks and then 6 wanted in a short space of time! I thought you would like to see some of the flowers that I have done for some of the cakes so far.

Pretty in Peach

I was asked to step into the breach as my niece, who is away on holiday, was supposed to make a cake for Millie for her 90th birthday party on Sunday! Niece was so busy getting two little ones and DH off to the lakes that she completely forgot about this cake. Aunty to the rescue again!!!

Dusky Pink Arrangement

This dusky pink arrangement for the bridal collection is set off very well with the matching and contrasting feathers and ribbon.

Irridescent Pearl

Just a little something to add to the bridal collection

Masquerade Masks

I was asked if I could make eye masks for a masquerade ball, so I said I would give it a go. This is what I came up with!

Golden Buttonholes

These little bottonholes make a nice change from using real flowers and can be kept as a keepsake for ever!
Unfortunately the camera does not pick out the lovely sparklyness of the materials used.

Crystal Tiara

This is the finished Crystal Tiara. I stiffened the tatting with a PVA solution but after all the handling while assembling it lost some of it's stiffness. I then sprayed it with extra hold hair spray which seems to have done the trick. I also found that I had to clean the glue off the crystal beads while it was still wet and again when it had dried, but when I sprayed it with the hair spray the crsytals really sparkled!!

You can now get the PDF pattern to this tiara here.

Crystal Tiara Progression

This is the tatting part finished. I now have to stiffen it and I will try a solution of PVA glue.

Crystal Tiara Progression

I thought everyone would like to see my progression of this tiara that I am making from silky rayon thread (about size 80) wound with a silver filament. I have so far incorporated glass beads with a central silver streak. I will be adding crystal beads on the next round.
This tiara is an adaptation of the drop pearl tiara that is in my book From Petals To Pearls. If it works well I will re-write the pattern with diagrams.
