I decided to make a pair of doilies in brown and cream to go with the new decor in my guest bedroom and thought that my new Starburst Doily would be just the job. But after the second round my designing head reared up and the doily ended up like this! I am now half way through the second doily but of course this one has got to be exactly the same otherwise it won't be a matching pair!

This is absolutely fabulous! So striking and elegant!
ReplyDeleteI agree with TattingChic! The design elements really show up well!
ReplyDeleteLinda, I must say that I love the variation. In fact I think I like it better than the original. The colour contrast is more striking and interesting. Will you be publishing the pattern by any chance?
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for your lovely comments and I agree that the pattern stands out well, especially with the two colours. And yes, Clyde, I will produce the pattern for it!
ReplyDeleteCan anyone name this variation for me? I have run out of ideas!
Baroque Starburst!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, the two-color contrast makes it look as though it was made with lots of tiny little motifs fastened together.
ReplyDeleteLove it!!!! It's specially striking with the 2 colors. I like Tatting Chic name for it. My brain have run a little dry with the naming of designs. lol
ReplyDeleteLinda, this variation is beautiful. It tends to have a celtic look as the last three rows seem to weave in and out of each other. It is a great design, indeed! - Marie Smith
ReplyDeleteThat is beautiful! I thought the original version was stunning, but this...there's no words for it. Lovely job!
ReplyDeleteI have now decided to call this new variation "Star Attraction" and have already have the PDF available for the pattern. I have loaded the PDF on the tatting groups that I am on, but if you would like the PDF sent directly to you, just email me. The link is in my profile.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the pattern, Linda! How I wish I could devote more time to tatting! Anyway, I can only admire it for now.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the patterns, Linda -- that just so generous! This is one I really want to make. It's going to have to wait until after I get my Christmas tatting done, though.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Clyde, I think it works even better than the original design, it's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThis is spectacular! Thanks so much for sharing the pattern. The colour choice is superb.
ReplyDeleteOHHH! I LOVE the new name of this doily! It is PERFECT!
ReplyDeleteI love this one even more Linda! Isn't the tatting bug a crazy thing? I sure would love the pattern.
ReplyDeleteThank you much!
