Wedding cake all finished!

The finsihed article!
Now I can relax until a couple of days before the wedding when I shall make the sponge cake for those who do not like fruit cake. Mind you! I have had people come up to me and say that they didn't like fruit cake, but they loved mine! Maybe it had something to do with the amount of alcohol I put in it ;-) !!! Fancy not liking rich fruit cake!

  1. Gorgeous! If I could afford to, I would fly you over next summer to make my daughter's wedding cake!

  3. It's just gorgeous and I'll bet it tastes wonderful. People who don't like fruit cake have only tasted cheap commercial fruitcake that uses coloured peel or in some cases coloured turnip instead of real fruit. Yours looks good enough to eat. Yum!

  4. May the compliments of a thousand people ring in your ears. You deserve to be showered with compliments the cake is beautiful. I did not know there was a recipe for a rich fruit cake without alcohol.

  5. BEAUTICIOUS!!! I like the lattice viney work on the sides. Gives a nice subtle texture. And as always your flowers are stupendous. Someday I will get that good in floral sugar art ;)

  7. So beautiful. I sure wish I had a piece right now. I have never heard of fruit cake for a wedding cake. Does it have the candied fruit in the batter or is there fruit between the layers?

  11. Thank you one and all for your lovely comments. It has taken me many years of practice to get to this standard and all on my own too. I have never had a single lesson! I simply got hold of as many books and magazines as I could and just gave it a go!
BTW JB, rich fruit cake in England is made with dried fruit such as sultanas, raisins and currents and candied peal which are all soaked liberrally with alcohol such as brandy, whiskey or rum - whichever I happen to have in my cupboard! LOL
