Following the request to make a Tiara pattern book, I have made a start on the designs.
The creamier colour is a size 20 thread and 4mm pearl beads and the one in the top left of the picture is done with a perle size 12 and tiny beads with a silver centre.
I have now soaked the pieces of tatting in a stiffening solution and when they are dry I will attach them each to a headband.
The new book will also contain headdresses/fascinators and corsages. The first one is almost ready to assemble. I will post a pic when it is done.

Fascinating to see the construction! I'm certainly interested in the book.
Looks Good - just one problem... I'm having trouble being patient!! LOL just kidding :-D
Also, I was looking through the tatted flowers from bulbs book, and it looks like I have most all the patterns already - so I decided I would wait to get that book until the tiara book came out, and then get them.
Oh, and I assembled the bird of paradise flower last night... I can see where I need to do some tweaking (i.e., make the Calyx MUCH bigger), otherwise, I think it came out OK? I had a teeny bit of trouble trying to see how 1 petal cluster was assembled. You can see it here: www.tatterme.com
Let me know what you think (if you have any constructive criticism, it'd be appreciated.
Thanks Linda!!
I love this!!! My sister designed and tatted a tiara for my (ex...I am sad to say she is an ex, but I hope she is very happy now) sister in law when was a little girl and it was beautiful! It was for their wedding when she married my brother!
What a great tiara's! We can turn ourselves into princesses with your patterns!
Lily, I have looked on your blog at your bird of paradise and I think you did me proud!
I used a much thicker thread for the calyx DMC Petra, which is like a size 10 in Coates, and that is why yours is not big enough. Working 2 threads together I'm sure would work quite well.
I love your blog and have added it to my list of friends.
By the way, the floss flower looks great and is one I also do as fill-ins on my headdresses. In white and ivory they look very impressive in the brides ones, and of course, in any colours for the fascinators!
Thanks so much Linda for your opinions and I feel honored that you have added me to your list - I'm a big fan of your work!
I really enjoyed making the Bird of Paradise!
As far as the floss flowers, I like making those too, and I don't mind doing the fraying, but I think I would enjoy it more if I could get a leather thimble to protect my fingers :-D My mom offered to fray the picots for me, and I will probably take her up on her offer because it gives her a chance to get in on the tatting fun (she doesn't know how, nor have time to tat) - plus it gives us some mother/daughter quality time :-D
Linda, Your creativity is amazing and your tatting is awesome. Clyde
Great idea...wonderful tatting....
