Here, as promised, is the pattern for my split chain doily. I have not checked it....so if someone would like to test-tat it for me, I would be delighted.

Linda, thank you for sharing this lovely pattern. This is a technique I've never practiced often enough to gain confidence. I have to dig out the instructions every time I want to use it. So, of course, I often avoid it. You've provided with us with a beautiful temptation here to master the technique.
