Christmas Tree Earrings 2016

It's that time again! Another Christmas is around the corner and so I thought I would make a new pair of my Christmas Tree Earrings.
This pair is made with perle No 8 with tiny seed beads.
I now stiffen the earrings with hair spray. I have found that it works very well, does not affect the colour of the cotton and can be re-applied again and again if the earrings become limp.
The link to the PDF pattern is at the bottom of my free patterns list on the right side bar.

Beaded Necklace, Bracelet, Earrings Set

I have made this set using purple faceted glass beads...6mm, 4mm & 3mm...and purple 15/0 seed beads  and 11/0 bronze seed beads. I didn't have the usual fishing line in a dark colour and so I used a pure Japanese silk thread, brown, which is very difficult to break, but still used it double, just in case! The pattern for the earrings and bracelet are Sidonia,s from YouTube and I adapted the pattern to make the necklace. Sidonia's YouTube videos are absolutely brilliant!

More Beaded Earrings

This is a pattern I got from YouTube I think it is absolutely delightful and I have enjoyed doing it very much. Sidonia (the designer) has also done a version for a bracelet which I am going to do next...just waiting for some beads to arrive.

Beaded Earrings

I saw some beading instructions on YouTube and thought I would give it a go. This is the result. I loved every minute of it and will look into getting the proper beading needles, beads, etc.

Christmas Tree Earrings

I have finally got back into tatting after several weeks of knitting. I have made a lot of snow flake ornaments but forgot to photograph them before giving them away!
I have now made 4 pairs of Christmas Tree earrings....I made the first pair for my neighbour's daughter, Louise, with whom we are spending Christmas dinner and she suggested that we all (ladies that is) wear the same earrings and so I made another two pairs. When I told another friend what I had bee up to she said, "Oh! I need a pair as well....I have got to dress up in Christmas stuff at work!" She works at a local large supermarket. And, of course, other friends and family are jumping on the band wagon....I now know this pattern off by heart! LOL!!!

Janet's Xmas Tree

Here is Janet's trial run of my Xmas tree pattern, but using a needle instead of a shuttle. Didn't she do well?
Janet did not want to make the tree into 3D earrings - as in the pattern - but wanted it as a tree motif.
As she says in her message to me, the second side is not quite as even as the first, but she will get it much better with practice. Looking forward to seeing her improvement as time goes on!
Well done, Janet!

Pretty in pink!

Here is a pink set for a young teenager.....matching scrunchie and earrings!

Unfortunately I haven't been able to do much tatting as my mum has been very poorly with pneumonia! Brought her over for Christmas on the Friday (19th) and had to call for the paramedics on Saturday. She was able to come out of hospital by Christmas Eve but went downhill again so that I had to call the emergency doctor out yesterday. She seems to be a little better today but at nearly 82 years old it is going to be a slow recovery!
