I had to do this Christening cake in a rush as my niece, Paula, who should have been doing it, had an accident at work, so it was Aunty Linda to the rescue!

Linda, this is quite lovely. I can't imagine what you would have done if you had advance notice!
Beautiful! I couldn't have done that no matter how much notice I had!
Linda, lovely cake. Is that marzipan?
This cake is sponge with butter cream in the centre. The little cake sits directly on the large cake and the fondent icing, which is stuck on with jam (jelly), is draped over in one piece to cover the whole cake and cake-board. The fluting on the board and the first tier is simply a wooden kebab skewer pressed evenly into the soft icing all the way round.
