I recently acquired a Lacis double bobbin shuttle and these are the two first attempts. I made life difficult for myself by winding each of the three bobbins with a very fine thread and with a thread of Gutermann Sulky to make it all sparkly! Although the threads were awkward to work with I soon got to grips with the shuttle. With ordinary tatting thread it would work very well.

So that's what one can achieve using that shuttle! Mine's still in the packaging... I was a little overwhelmed by the instructions! Your pieces are very pretty!
