Dangly Ornaments In Position

I just thought you would all like to see the dangly ornaments "in-situ". When the tree is lit up at night (also the other gold thingy lights up) it all looks so pretty and sparkly and seasonal, but it photographs better in the daylight. We had a lovely Christmas Day with me, DH Jim, mum Rose, son Howard and his girlfriend Charlie although poor Howard and Charlie had to go to work at 10pm (police force). Today is Boxing Day and it is a beautiful sunny day. No white Christmas for us this year (as usual)!!

More Dangly Ornaments

Another three ornaments that I now have dangling from my ceiling lights!

Tree ornaments

Just a couple more tree ornaments that I have made, both with two threads wound together. One thread was Anchor Alcazar Viscose Rayon and the other thread was Anchor Alcazar Metallic.
These could also be used as mobiles anywhere in the house! I have them dangling from my lounge ceiling lights, so tall visitors have to duck!!!

White Christmas Tree Earrings

I have done these earrings in very fine silky rayon together with Gutermann Sulky. They sparkly beautifully but unfortunately the camera hasn't picked it up very well. More likely to be my fault than the camera's!

Christmas Tree Earrings

It was Tatman (AKA Mark)'s idea to turn the Christmas tree pattern into earrings and here is the slightly adjusted pattern to make the earrings.

Here is the link to the PDF pattern.

Christmas Tree Progression

This is my progression in designing a tatted
Christmas tree

This is the one that I settled with. It can be done as a flat motif
as this one is or.....

.... make two, fold them in half and glue them together along
the fold.

Little Beaded Tiara

This little tiara has been stiffened using hairspray. It wasn't stiff enough and so I sprayed it again and it made a big difference. I will spray it one more time just to see if it makes it even stiffer!

Christmas Snowflakes number 2

With the second snowflake I therefore simply added the sequins as and when I needed them and didn't bother to thread them on the thread first!

Christmas Snowflakes

With this first snowflake I threaded the sequins onto the thread first. I find this fiddly to do but thought that it was the best way to make the sequins lie flat. However I miscalculated the number of sequins and therefore for the last 2 sets of 3 rings I put the sequins on with a needle threader and low and behold - they lie much better than the ones that were threaded on first!

Fisherman Cake

I have done this cake for a friend's father's 70th birthday. He is into fishing and is having a party on Sunday. He knows he is having a party but he doesn't know about the cake!

Lacis double bobbin samples

I recently acquired a Lacis double bobbin shuttle and these are the two first attempts. I made life difficult for myself by winding each of the three bobbins with a very fine thread and with a thread of Gutermann Sulky to make it all sparkly! Although the threads were awkward to work with I soon got to grips with the shuttle. With ordinary tatting thread it would work very well.

Glittery snowflake

This is my very first bespoke snowflake. I used together a silky rayon thread about the size of quilting cotton and a silver thread. It measures approx 3" across and sparkles lovely in a good light.

A little crown

The threads that I used on this little motif were a good quality varigated, machine sewing yarn and a gold thread. The gold thread split and so I had to cut it off. The distance I achieved before the thread split I thought the motif looked just like a little crown. I shall have to think what else I can put with it on a Christmas card perhaps!

Christmas Bauble

My niece has bought new baubles for her tree this year and her colour scheme is green, white and silver. After seeing other designs on the net I thought I would have a go at my own. This was the result of my first attempt!

Sequinned Snowflake

I added silver holographed sequins to one of my favourite little flowers to make a pretty snowflake. The camera makes some of the sequins look multicoloured!

Christening Cake

I had to do this Christening cake in a rush as my niece, Paula, who should have been doing it, had an accident at work, so it was Aunty Linda to the rescue!

Bristol Tat Day Photos

There was a large attendance today at the Bristol Tat Day and it was nice for me to be able to put faces to names.

Jennifer was an excellent demonstrator and a good time was had by all.

Here is Sue Hanson sporting a hat decorated with my new chrysanthemums!
